You Go, Brigitte!!

My quote of the month: It is sad to grow old, but nice to ripen. Brigitte Bardot I love this. This is my new goal. Watch me now, ripening gracefully!!

Lory: what a good idea!! I'll get to work on that right away. :-)

Heather: Brigitte and I have long since known that any good-looking woman gets used to a few attention-seeking flies buzzing round. So tedious, darling, but one must be gracious, of course.

I'm not going without a fight. I'm not doing it gracefully and I'm not nicely ripening.

I'm mad as hell and I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE.

Oh, sorry.

Touched a nerve with that one.

Oh, dear, my dear...

How old are you? You sound like me four or five years ago. I was 39 or 40 when I looked in the mirror and realized: "Agh! It's happening to me!" Softer skin, wrinkles at the eyes, grey hairs... Strange how that should come as any kind of a shock...

I'm 44 now, and since I don't plan a lifetime of surgery from now on, which would be the only viable way to completely evade the signs of aging, I've had to come to terms with it. You know what? I passed the mirror just last week, and realized that I actively like my eye-crinkles! They gave me a genuine jolt of pleasure. How about that??

I think it was Mark Twain who said that at 50, we have the face we deserve, and he's right. Mine will show a life well spent: much smiling has happened with this face! That's not such a bad thing.

You're going to call me a big baby: I'm turning 35 next week.

I know, I know, but I hate it. I'm not really seeing the effects of aging; I have really good genetics in my favor. My mother is nearing 62 and she MAYBE looks 50.

It is getting harder to maintain my weight without dietary modifications, which I'm so opposed to it isn't funny. I LIKE food.

I just don't like getting older.

We each have our styles! Fight the good fight, my dear, but remember not to scowl while you struggle - that makes wrinkles! :-)

How does your youthful-looking mother feel about it all?
