Meet Timmy

I have a new little guy starting in the fall, and his mother and I are weaning him in by sending him for a couple of hours two days a week. He's a sweet little guy with big bright blue eyes and a beaming smile. I can't show you any of that, but I CAN show you his other dominant feature:

Hey, everyone, meet Timmy, aka "Handles".

My siblings and I all have nice, flat ears...because the nurses at the hospital showed my mother how to tape them down when we were newborns.

Timmy's round bald head makes me think of Charlie Brown.

My son has ears like that. I wonder if the new baby will have them to go with his watermelon head and monkey feet.

(to quote my son - not me).

And this reminded me...I notice that you have a 'Baby Nigel', but no other kid is 'Baby Whomever.' Was that because Nigel was younger than the others? Because his older brother is also in daycare with you? Or do you have some other Nigel who is older?

And will Timmy be 'Baby Timmy'? (That doesn't sound as cute, though...)

Beckajo: Apparently little Timmy's ears have never seen tape, but truly, I think those handles just add to his charm. He may feel otherwise when he's fourteen or so... If he's lucky, long hair will be in again (still?).

The youngest in care is always "baby" whatever. In the fall, Nigel will cease to be "baby Nigel", but Timmy won't be "baby", either, because there will be at least one other child his age.

Granny: "Watermelon head" is not a good trait in a newborn. Ouch.

Kimmyk: "All those toddlers" will be off to Junior Kindergarten in the fall. "Baby" Nigel is going to be the senior man of the crew. You can start praying for me now...

M. Tina: Quite right. It's always been my experience that toddlers like to help out with the baby. It makes them feel important and competant. Sadly, my toddlers are all off to various other places. I'll probably blog on that on the weekend.

Kristen: A newbie, indeed. Timmy is seven or so months old. He can sit up, and he can shove himself around the floor, though not crawl just yet. And happy? The boy is terminally chipper. Of course, most seven month olds are. We'll see what he's like come the fall.
