May I Crow a Bit?
My sister called this evening. "Hey, I saw you in Macleans*!"
"It's out? But it's not on the website!"
That'll teach me to be too cheap to buy a hard copy once a week... but, my sister tells me, if you look on page 51 of the November 6th issue, there I am! Cynthia Reynolds, who interviewed me back in August, graciously allotted me an entire paragraph - and a reference to this very blog - in a tightly-constructed 800-word article. Isn't that amazing??
Why, you may be asking, didn't I tell you all before? Well, because I was waiting for the article to come out.
And I missed it! Boo.
What brought me to the attention of Ms. Reynolds? That ever-popular Benign Neglect post I wrote back in July.
Macleans. Amazing.
Fame and fortune are is mine. At least a little.
Heh.

How very cool Mary P!
You'll have to post the article since we in the states don't get it.
Congrats again!
Yay You!
Awesome! Yes, please post the link when it becomes available.
P-man showed me the article on the weekend. I thought you were just being modest or -- more likely? -- I was WAAAAYY behind on my blog reading.
ps.. have you seen the Laumann book yet? I gotta finish that review...
How exciting!
Well done. It's nice to yourself in print:-)
Although I have to say, when I had a full page plus picture in the Bristol Evening Post (circulation of a few million or so), my hit's didn't change one iota! not even a single additional lurker!
I hope you do better:-)
How cool! I'll check out page 51 when I'm in Chapters, then :)
Congrats! I remember that post. If you can, share the article. Hurray!
Congratulations!
Congratulations! I think the university library gets that...
I take it the article isn't available online? We'll have to find a way to enable your readers to obtain it!
That is AWESOME, Mary P!!! Congratulations! If we can't see it online, then maybe someone can scan the images and post them...?
Congratulations!! I just read the Benign Neglect post for the first time. It was wonderful! I almost fell into the trap of being an indulgene-her-every-whimparent because i was soooo young and wanted to do everything right. One day, when my daughter was about 4 months old, my Mother said to me "put her in the playpen". I was holding my daughter at the time. When i questioned my Mom as to why, she said something to the effect of " how else is she ever going to learn how to entertain herself? She has toys in there and a mobile. Let her have a few minutes alone. You are her mother, not her entertainment director". It seems silly now, but I was completely taken aback. From that time on, my daughter got daily doses of *alone* play time. She grew into a kid who was very self-reliant.
Woo-hoo! Just don't forget those of us who knew you back when, ok? You've got to come up with a way for us to read it! Come on Mary-P-solver-of-all-problems, we wanna read it!!
Yay Mum! I'll have to track me down a copy so I can properly boast and wave it in people's faces.
CONGRATULATIONS!
And I can say that I knew you before you were a big star!
Don't forget us little people.
I'm hoping there are enough Canadians down here to merit a subscription at the U library. But really, McLeans is just proving what we knew all along.
Just promise me when you have your SuperMary P. 911 show that we will get to be contestants.
